Back from the dead.

Can you believe I'm blogging? I can hardly believe it myself!

So much has happened the past few months. We finished our winter semester a week and a half ago and yesterday started our last first day at BYU-Idaho! We are so excited! (Although I think I'm more excited than J.) It's such a strange feeling to almost be done. It's bittersweet though. I wasn't one that was completely excited to go to college, but now I'm really starting to enjoy what I'm learning. Maybe that means a Masters is in my future at some point.

Speaking of Masters.....J got accepted to the University of Utah Master's program! He's totally pumped. He's on the computer graphics and scientific visualization track. I think I get the jist of it, but most of the time I still smile and nod when he talks.

Graduation from BYU-I is July 23 and J starts in Salt Lake on August 24th. That means that, in true Sarah fashion, I have been looking for apartments since before he even applied to school there. There are tons of choices, but I have no idea where we'll be. Ideally, we'd have full sized washer and dryer hook ups so that we could take our stuff, a kitchen that opens to the living room and (wishful thinking) a fenced backyard for the doggies. I'm actually finding a lot of good stuff from craigslist, but no one wants to hold their awesome deal until August. But if anyone knows of any good apartments, let me know!

This semester I'm taking a class called Administrative Issues. I was warned that a lot of people hate this class and it's a lot of work, but I'm super excited! We basically pretend we are putting together a preschool, after school program, etc. We have to create a handbook for the center with all kinds of things from a business plan and budget to child abuse prevention. I think it'll be great experience for the real world and will look awesome on a resume.

I feel like I'm missing some important information, but I guess not. It must just be my excitement with graduating. I got a hair cut, but that's nothing too exciting.

Oh, and we did go to California last week to visit. We had a ton of fun just relaxing and hanging out with family. But it was definitely too short.

Oh, Idaho

What happens in Idaho when you:

Get a drink of water in the morning
Go to church
Go to the in-laws for dinner
Stay a little bit longer than you should
Go home

You get frozen kitchen pipes!
Don't worry, ours didn't look like that, but they were frozen.

Frozen pipes lead to no water, which also leads to this:

Don't you worry, that's not our sink and we didn't have that many dishes

We called the landlord and she said to put some space heaters on the pipes to get them to thaw out.

So we did. The water came back a little, but still not enough to dishes. I was actually a little relieved I could get out of dish duty for a little while

The water came and went for a few days and then our trusty handman Brett decided he wanted to take a look at it. Here's Brett, and yes girls, he's single :)

According to Brett, car mechanics and plumbers are one in the same. Boy was he right. He fixed our pipes! Well, actually it was a combination of the pipes and also the faucet itself.

I never thought I'd be so excited to do dishes in my life.

Dogs for sale

Is anyone interested in a couple of dogs? They're very cute (except for when they poo on the floor), enjoy hanging out with each other (except for when Milton chases Chloe around the apartment with socks in her face) and are very well behaved (except for when they tear up your bathroom while you're gone and chew up every single one of your makeup brushes).

I swear they're great dogs and will love you forever!

I promise I love my dogs. They just drove me insane when we came home yesterday and found everything on the bathroom counter on the floor instead all chewed up

The final stretch

Let me just start out by saying that I'm getting my Christmas cards ready so if you'd like one, email me your address at sarahegeddes@gmail.com

Now you can stop reading if you want :)

We've reached the final stretch! One more week! But this last week has about 7 tests for me :( Jonathan's semester is wrapping up at about the same pace that the rest of the semester went. My teachers decided to lay it on thick. I had two group projects due last Friday with a paper as well. Now I have 7 tests. Oh well, it'll all be over soon.

Thanksgiving was great. We went down to Utah to see my mom, brother and sister-in-law. Of course we got to see the rest of the step family too which was fun. We exchanged Christmas presents with Daniel and Sarah which was awesome. We wish we could see them a lot more.

I'm so excited to have most of our Christmas shopping done! If we don't have it yet, we at least know what we're getting. Then comes wrapping! I just love everything about giving Christmas presents. Thinking of what they'd like, going out to find it, and coming home and wrapping it up. J and I need to go get a Christmas tree so I can start wrapping his presents and sticking them under them.

I just love Christmas!

Christmas is coming!

It has been a busy couple of weeks. There's a lot that's been going on, so I'm probably going to have to separate this in sections.

School right now:
I've been busy with some papers and things, but nothing compared to Jonathan. He's had this ridiculous group (and by group I mean the entire class) project that's taking up all of his time. On Saturday he was at school from 8-6 working on said project and is actually up on campus working on it right now. Its so frustrating! Probably more for him than for me, but I just want my husband back!

School in the future:
Our plans have changed and it looks like Jonathan and I will both be graduating this coming July. I'll have to do an internship in the fall, but we'll both be free and clear by that point! Jonathan is working on grad school applications right now because he immediately wants to start working on a PhD. The great thing is, PhD students get to go to school for free and get a living stipend on top of that! We're super excited and are crossing our fingers for the University of Utah in Salt Lake. He's going to apply a bunch of places, but UofU just feels right to us.

Family stuff:
About 3 weeks ago, Jonathan's sweet grandma (Grammy) had a stoke. She's been in Washington and Arizona like she always is in the summers and was in Arizona when she had the stroke. She was in and out of the hospital and passed late Friday night. Its such a bittersweet thing. Everyone is going to miss her a ton, but we know that she wanted to go and see her husband again. This is what she wanted and that makes it easier to let her go. There's going to be a graveside service on Saturday in Orem and then a memorial service for her up here on Tuesday. Its hard, but we'll get through it. This year has been so hard on us with death. First Jonathan's grandma, then my grandpa, and now his other grandmother. There have been others as well. The number of people that I've actually known that have passed this year is alarming to me. It just makes me wonder what Heavenly Father is planning up there :)

In other news, Melissa's baby is ready to come any day now! She's not due until November 8th, but I'm thinking she's going to go earlier than that. We're all excited to meet the little guy and see who he looks like.

Also, Jonathan's birthday is Sunday the 2nd. He's not very excited, so I'm being excited for him! Yay for being 24! haha

Church:
I am officially the Relief Socitey assistant secretary. I didn't even know something like that existed. I'm happy that I have something to contribute to the ward though. We're just waiting for J to get a calling. They just merged our ward with another one so everything is getting shifted around.

The Holidays: I said this post would be long haha
We are spending Thanksgiving down in Utah with my mom, Tom and his kids and Daniel, Sarah and Luke! I couldn't be more excited. J has to take his GRE a couple days before Thanksgiving so we'll be doing that right as we get there, but then it will just be great fun getting to see family again!

Christmas will be spent at J's parent's house and I'm looking forward to it a lot. Christmas at his house is way fun, but then also laid back just the right amount (this can be a hard task considering how many people there are!) I want to start my Christmas shopping now, but I know that if I do I'll be disappointed that I won't have anything to do for another 2 months.

So that's life. I really should update this more so that I don't have to type things out forever next time!
