Oh, Idaho
What happens in Idaho when you:
Get a drink of water in the morning
Go to church
Go to the in-laws for dinner
Stay a little bit longer than you should
Go home
You get frozen kitchen pipes!
Don't worry, ours didn't look like that, but they were frozen.
Frozen pipes lead to no water, which also leads to this:
Don't you worry, that's not our sink and we didn't have that many dishes
We called the landlord and she said to put some space heaters on the pipes to get them to thaw out.
So we did. The water came back a little, but still not enough to dishes. I was actually a little relieved I could get out of dish duty for a little while
The water came and went for a few days and then our trusty handman Brett decided he wanted to take a look at it. Here's Brett, and yes girls, he's single :)
According to Brett, car mechanics and plumbers are one in the same. Boy was he right. He fixed our pipes! Well, actually it was a combination of the pipes and also the faucet itself.
I never thought I'd be so excited to do dishes in my life.

Dogs for sale
Is anyone interested in a couple of dogs? They're very cute (except for when they poo on the floor), enjoy hanging out with each other (except for when Milton chases Chloe around the apartment with socks in her face) and are very well behaved (except for when they tear up your bathroom while you're gone and chew up every single one of your makeup brushes).
I swear they're great dogs and will love you forever!
I promise I love my dogs. They just drove me insane when we came home yesterday and found everything on the bathroom counter on the floor instead all chewed up

The final stretch
Let me just start out by saying that I'm getting my Christmas cards ready so if you'd like one, email me your address at sarahegeddes@gmail.com
Now you can stop reading if you want :)
We've reached the final stretch! One more week! But this last week has about 7 tests for me :( Jonathan's semester is wrapping up at about the same pace that the rest of the semester went. My teachers decided to lay it on thick. I had two group projects due last Friday with a paper as well. Now I have 7 tests. Oh well, it'll all be over soon.
Thanksgiving was great. We went down to Utah to see my mom, brother and sister-in-law. Of course we got to see the rest of the step family too which was fun. We exchanged Christmas presents with Daniel and Sarah which was awesome. We wish we could see them a lot more.
I'm so excited to have most of our Christmas shopping done! If we don't have it yet, we at least know what we're getting. Then comes wrapping! I just love everything about giving Christmas presents. Thinking of what they'd like, going out to find it, and coming home and wrapping it up. J and I need to go get a Christmas tree so I can start wrapping his presents and sticking them under them.
I just love Christmas!

Christmas is coming!
It has been a busy couple of weeks. There's a lot that's been going on, so I'm probably going to have to separate this in sections.
School right now:
I've been busy with some papers and things, but nothing compared to Jonathan. He's had this ridiculous group (and by group I mean the entire class) project that's taking up all of his time. On Saturday he was at school from 8-6 working on said project and is actually up on campus working on it right now. Its so frustrating! Probably more for him than for me, but I just want my husband back!
School in the future:
Our plans have changed and it looks like Jonathan and I will both be graduating this coming July. I'll have to do an internship in the fall, but we'll both be free and clear by that point! Jonathan is working on grad school applications right now because he immediately wants to start working on a PhD. The great thing is, PhD students get to go to school for free and get a living stipend on top of that! We're super excited and are crossing our fingers for the University of Utah in Salt Lake. He's going to apply a bunch of places, but UofU just feels right to us.
Family stuff:
About 3 weeks ago, Jonathan's sweet grandma (Grammy) had a stoke. She's been in Washington and Arizona like she always is in the summers and was in Arizona when she had the stroke. She was in and out of the hospital and passed late Friday night. Its such a bittersweet thing. Everyone is going to miss her a ton, but we know that she wanted to go and see her husband again. This is what she wanted and that makes it easier to let her go. There's going to be a graveside service on Saturday in Orem and then a memorial service for her up here on Tuesday. Its hard, but we'll get through it. This year has been so hard on us with death. First Jonathan's grandma, then my grandpa, and now his other grandmother. There have been others as well. The number of people that I've actually known that have passed this year is alarming to me. It just makes me wonder what Heavenly Father is planning up there :)
In other news, Melissa's baby is ready to come any day now! She's not due until November 8th, but I'm thinking she's going to go earlier than that. We're all excited to meet the little guy and see who he looks like.
Also, Jonathan's birthday is Sunday the 2nd. He's not very excited, so I'm being excited for him! Yay for being 24! haha
Church:
I am officially the Relief Socitey assistant secretary. I didn't even know something like that existed. I'm happy that I have something to contribute to the ward though. We're just waiting for J to get a calling. They just merged our ward with another one so everything is getting shifted around.
The Holidays: I said this post would be long haha
We are spending Thanksgiving down in Utah with my mom, Tom and his kids and Daniel, Sarah and Luke! I couldn't be more excited. J has to take his GRE a couple days before Thanksgiving so we'll be doing that right as we get there, but then it will just be great fun getting to see family again!
Christmas will be spent at J's parent's house and I'm looking forward to it a lot. Christmas at his house is way fun, but then also laid back just the right amount (this can be a hard task considering how many people there are!) I want to start my Christmas shopping now, but I know that if I do I'll be disappointed that I won't have anything to do for another 2 months.
So that's life. I really should update this more so that I don't have to type things out forever next time!

Free Handbags?!
I promise I'll post a real entry soon, but for now...
I came across this new website called Handbag Planet that is launching tomorrow. It sells designer inspired handbags for way cheaper. And tomorrow they're giving away one of their handbags every hour! It starts tomorrow, so hurry up and go enter to win!

I had a hair appointment today...
This is what I looked like yesterday.
Then today I had a hair appointment. What do I look like now?
Straight after the appointment.....
After I curled it.
What do you think? There's still some red in it, but I'd rather it have some red and be dark than be the color it was yesterday.

I need opinions
Tell me....will I regret this? Every two or three years for the past six years I've done a major chop to my hair.
Part of me thinks it is time once again.
A few months ago I was seriously considering this and now I can't get it off my mind.
Here's my reasoning.
1. My hair is pretty damaged from its previous run in with bleach. If I cut it off it'll grow back healthier so next time its long I'll really love it.
2. I love when I have my hair long and actually done
like this picture...but that doesn't happen very often.
3. Short hair would be so much easier. I could take a shower at night like I do now, let it dry overnight and straighten it in the morning. My 45 minute routine like the picture about could be turned into about 10.
4. I'd do my hair more often and feel more put together.
The thing is, I love my hair when its long. But it just never gets done so it always looks pretty gross.
If you need some help deciding, here's some old pictures of when my hair was shorter.
Oh, and just for reference, I'm getting my hair dyed a darker brown (hopefully without red) this same time.
So....what do you think?

And behind door number 3...
We live in a three bedroom apartment. Our old apartment was two bedrooms. We have gotten used to two bedrooms. One as a bedroom and the second as an office. That worked for us here too.
The boys stacked almost everything we owned into the extra bedroom when we moved in. That was great. It made it so that all of the clutter was in the one room we didn't even need.
Last week I was sick of wasting space. So I decided to tackle our extra room.

Another angle.
I started out so motivated! I was pushing through hoping I could get it done in two days. What a joke! My motivation started to wane and I was afraid I'd end up with two messy rooms. The extra room and the living room that had inherited a lot of the junk from clearing out the extra room.
After a couple days of not doing much in the room, I realized its purpose. I'd use it as a better place to make my jewelry and also to set up J's recording equipment so that I could start working on recording and see where it takes me.
We got a new bookshelf for all of my books (I surprisingly have a lot!) and two tables for my new adventures.

Ok I lied. My favorite part is my new filing cabinet. Its so nice to keep everything from school that will be useful. Also, don't you love my sugar cereal food storage? :) I can't resist when things are $1.
Now I have to go back to cleaning every other room well to make up for the fact that all my energy has been spent on this one room. Hopefully it'll all be done before school starts!

My problems are solved!
I found out almost a year ago that I was lactose intolerant. I would eat some cereal in the morning and then feel the milk in the pit of my stomach all day long. Some other, not so pretty, bodily functions would follow and I finally realized that I just can't tolerate milk.
Luckily mine isn't that bad. The only things I can't eat are milk, sour cream, ice cream, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc. However, if I wanted those things all I had to do was pop in a magic pill with my first bite. The pill would last 20-40 minutes before I needed a new one. I was amazed. I could finally eat whatever I wanted.
Exhibit A: Magic Pill

A few days ago I was browsing around online and found the real magic pill. The answer to all of my problems. A pill that is taken once a day. All I have to do is take one every morning and can eat whatever I want, all day long! For the longest time I've had to give up little bites of things. Jonathan always has ice cream or something and offers me a bite. I always respond by saying that one bite isn't worth taking a pill. Now I can take all the bites I want! And no more having to cart around 12 pills with me every day because I don't know when I'm going to eat dairy.

Picture time!
I can finally post pictures! The internet at my in-laws is more reliable than at my house so I can use linux and post my pictures!!
Let's see....where to start on the trip...Milton usually has a hard time with these rides so we came prepared with sedatives from the vet. We figured if he started getting anxious we could just give him some to calm him down.
Jonathan also built a little "fence" from the front seat to the back seat so that the dogs couldn't get through. This helped tremendously! Milton didn't freak out the entire time and just stayed put in the back. It was amazing. You can kid of see the "fence" here. Chloe was actually a little worse than Milton on the trip. Funny little thing.
I love Chloe's faces.
Jonathan was glad I drove, even if it wasn't for very long.
Milton liked to pop his head around the seat to try and be comforted.
Jonathan went to probably his 4th and 5th professional baseball games ever on this trip. The first week we went to an A's game with Tom's clients and got to eat all kinds of yummy food. Then, the day before we left we went with Daniel to a Giant's game. Jonathan actually really liked the games. It was fun to just sit around and eat stadium food and enjoy each other's company.
Jonathan wasn't quite into the game at this point. He was more interested in his free burgers and diet pepsi!
The A's game wasn't really as exciting or intense as the Giant's game. The only fun things were that Alex Olson caught two balls and a cat ran into the field.
I really feel bad because I convinced Jonathan that he wouldn't be cold in shorts and flip flops. He was freezing! I learned my lesson for the Giant's game. I don't know what I was thinking!
We were dressed much more appropriately for the Giant's game, but I was still cold!
I have the best brother ever!
Mom and I did plenty of shopping and we hung out with Daniel, Sarah and Luke a ton too. We finally found Mario Kart for the Wii when we were in California and had a blast! Watch out for Sarah, she can kill you if she's got Waluigi!
I already want to go back, but instead, I think its time someone made a trip up here *hint hint*. I'm excited to see what we can do to see everybody around Christmas time.
We love you all!

A word to the wise....
Do not go on vacation with a dirty house. Seems simple right?
We had been doing a pretty good job keeping our house clean, but in the midst of packing for our trip, things got a little out of hand. Stuff got scattered. That can be expected with packing, but I didn't have time to pick it up before we left.
So we left California at 10:45 California time and started for our LONG trip home. We didn't get in until 1:30. The drive itself wasn't bad, it just took forever.
We walked in and immediately smelled....the stench. We had forgotten that this apartment smells funny. Now, before you start thinking that we're nasty dirty people or that we have bad smelling dogs....oh wait, I guess we do have stinky dogs...anyway! This smell has been here since we moved in. We have no idea where it came from. But it just smells....weird.
With the combination of the smell and the fact that the place was slightly cluttered I was ready to hop back in my car and go back to California. My mom wouldn't mind housing us for another month or two would she? She'd pretend she'd like it, but inside she'd be wishing we didn't make HER place a mess like ours was.
Anyway, since we've been home I've been a cleaning machine. Not to say that our house was a disaster before, it just needed picking up.
Every room is almost spotless. Then there's that pesky third bedroom. One bedroom is ours, one serves as an office, and then we have a third that doesn't really have a purpose. We could make it a bedroom for the dogs, but....they wouldn't sleep in there anyway. Chloe won't sleep unless she's touching some human skin. Right this minute she's right next to me. She could sleep all day.
It could be a craft room. I could put all my jewelry stuff in there so I could leave it "out" and not have to put it away every time I'm done using it.
But instead...its the junk room. There's stuff in there from the move that I didn't even know existed. That should tell me something. I should just take everything in that room and throw it out. Its obvious we don't need it. One of these days I should post a picture of it. Its pathetic.
Well, I'm sure there's more cleaning I should be doing. I'll update about the trip with pictures later. I just have to figure out how to get my pictures from my Linux drive into my Windows drive since the internet is incredibly unreliable in Linux right now.
I hope everyone is having a great summer!

We're Coming!
Tomorrow morning Jonathan and I are starting our trek to California. I am way excited to see friends and family but NOT at all excited for the drive. Usually we take the trip in two days. Jonathan really wants to do it in one. 14 hours in the car with two dogs!
We got Milton some sedatives so that he can kind of fall asleep in the back seat the whole time. Usually on this trip he sits on my lap because he gets so scared. Its awful. So hopefully with him knocked out we can have a more enjoyable ride.
Speaking of enjoyable rides....our car is very bumpy. Its been more like a boat than a car since I bought it in 2005. So today we had the new struts put on. I laughed the whole way home because it was just so smooth! It was money definitely well spent!
I'm sitting here trying to think of what else to say and my mind is clouded by the fact that I am absolutely dreading the drive tomorrow. We can drive around town without a purpose and realize we've been driving for 3 hours. But the second we get in the car and realize that we're stuck in the car for that long I get very anxious. It'll all be worth it to see everyone though! Its a good thing we're staying for about two weeks because there's just so many people to see!

We're 2!
So on Tuesday, Jonathan and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary! Time flies so quickly! But at the same time it feels like we've been married for 7 years.
I meant to make this post say...Tuesday night, but I've been so busy with finals (side note, we're done with finals and projects and will be headed to California probably on Wednesday!)
The night before our wedding I slept better than I have in my entire life. My mom was concerned I would be a nervous wreck (and she had every right to think so, I've led her to believe I'm a nervous wreck my entire life) and so she wanted to give me half of a sleeping pill. I politely declined, telling her I'd like to be conscious for my wedding. I fell asleep faster than ever before. My mom on the other hand, took the pill and the next day had a migraine. I told her! :)
Usually when I get up early, and especially when I'm anxious about something I get a stomach ache. So I was terrified that I was going to be feeling sick the morning of while I was getting my hair done and everything. But I was calm, cool and collected. Absolutely nothing was phasing me. It was wonderful.
We headed off to the temple and were sealed without a glitch. It was the most amazing day of my life. After I put on my wedding dress and got ready to see Jonathan I can still remember my mom telling me something along the lines of..."just so you know, your flowers aren't quite what you expected them to be, but they're beautiful anyway"...doesn't she know me well! The one thing she warned me about is the one thing I still have a little bit of frustration over! If I could do it all again, I'd make sure I got the flowers I asked for! But really, my wedding was amazing and I'm so happy with how everything turned out.
So this year, Jonathan and I decided that we weren't going to exchange gifts until sometime in California because we just didn't have time with finals and everything. But anyone who really knows me knows that I couldn't really do that. So after my classes on Monday I went out and just got some "starter" gifts. Mostly things we would have gotten him regardless-like some t-shirts and socks.
We went to school and I took a test and then it was off to sushi! Jonathan doesn't get to eat sushi as often as he'd like so we took advantage of the fact that it was our anniversary and splurged a bit.
I'm still not quite sure what else we'll do in California to celebrate, but I know we'll have fun.
Here's a few pictures of our wonderful wedding, now two years ago.

Excited? To take a test?
Never in my life did I think I was excited to take a test. But yesterday I was.
I've been taking a nutrition for young children class this semester that I've really enjoyed. Our last section was on food safety. I've been totally intrigued and disgusted at the same time! There are a lot of things people do at home that are so dangerous with food.
So like I said, I had a test yesterday and if I got at least 80% I would get some certificate of food safety for Idaho. I don't know exactly what it was called, but I was excited!
I got a 92%! I only missed 4 questions (and I still don't have a clue which ones they were).
So that's out of the way. Now I have 2 spanish tests this week (including a comprehensive final), a family interaction test, a nutrition project and lots of Spanish homework. I really should be doing homework, but I can't seem to get the motivation.
And after the semester is over....we're going to California! It'll be really nice because we'll have our car so we can stay as long as we want and go where ever we want without having to borrow a car. I'm really excited.
Yay!

Because Margaret said so :)
I talked to Jonathan's aunt Margaret today and she told me I needed to update my blog, so here I am!
This will likely be a long one, a lot has happened.
So the 19th was my birthday! My mom and her husband Tom came up to visit and we had a lot of fun.
Jonathan woke me up with breakfast in bed. It was so sweet of him to do. A few days before my birthday I had been craving a Jack in the Box breakfast croissant thing and so he got me one :)
Chloe had fun basking in the sun that morning as well. She was really cute.
So I went off to school-my second ever birthday being in school, the first being summer school before freshman year-and was really excited to be done.
We had dinner at Jonathan's parent's house that night and we had a lot of fun and I got a lot of great stuff. Everyone was so generous.Dave and Melissa got me some glass pearls to use with my beading. I've used them a TON and love what they add to my jewelry.
The next day J, Mom and Tom and I went and played mini-golf. We had quite a lot of fun.
So that was my birthday. The next week my dad and his wife came for dinner on their way back from a vacation. I cooked them dinner and our house was boiling! They came through on a day that was 102 outside! It was SO warm out. Yikes!
Now we're just trying to get through school and finals. Nothing should be too bad, projects will be worse than finals. But after that we're on our way to California! I'm so excited, except not about the trip. Milton gets anxious on long car rides and tries to sit on my lap the entire time. Its not exactly fun for my legs :/
About every other weekend I end up making a ton of jewelry. Last weekend I think I made at least 15 things. I've put them all up on etsy, but I haven't seemed to get many bites. Oh well, I guess they can just become gifts.
I've been busy making an invitation for Kalyn's baby shower in a couple weeks. That's what the look like. This jpg is a little fuzzy, but they won't really be. I think if you click it you can see it bigger.
Our 2nd anniversary is on the 15th and its my year to come up with something. I figure we'll do a little something here on the 15th and then do something bigger in California once we get out there. I just can't figure out what to do! If anyone has any ideas, I'd love them!
I feel like I'm missing something, but I can't seem to put my finger on it. If I figure it out, I guess I'll come back and blog more.

Washing Dishes
So this is our dishwasher. It is now however, our house. The pictures are from the people who sold it to us. We knew we had to move and we had to do it fast, so we didn't care that this new place didn't have a dishwasher. We figured we'd either wash dishes or use this handy thing. Well...its not so handy. It takes up SO much counter space and is technically only a 4 place setting thing. And it leaves everything soapy!
So I think I've decided that I'm just going to wash all my dishes now. It seems to work just fine for Jonathan, but not for me. Maybe I'll put him on dish duty!
We finally got all of our pictures up in the house. Now all we need to do is get the 3rd bedroom cleaned out. It has become our storage space. Which is just fine except for the fact that when we move out it'll be awful trying to go through it.
Right now I really wish I had my piano. My fingers are itching to play.
Mom and Tom are coming Thursday! 2 days till they come and 2 days till my birthday! Yay!

New Layout
Well it's been quite the experience trying to get this blog to look the way I want it to. And I'm still not sure I'm completely happy with it.
J will be happy to know that I tweaked the code on my own. I didn't just do a bunch of copy paste. He's always trying to get me to code.
I am so sick of the weather here. There's like 50 degree winds today. Not fun. And tomorrow is only a high of 49 with a chance of rain, and get this....SNOW! I am so not excited. I've been checking the 10 day weather forecast everyday to see if it would all let up for my birthday and this is what it says:
We'll just do my birthday week.
Monday-High of 74. Mostly sunny. 20% chance of precipitation.
Tuesday-High of 74. Sunny 0% chance of precipitation.
Wednesday- High of 73. Mostly sunny. 10% chance of precipitation.
And the big day?
High of dang 64. Partly cloudy. And at least a 0% chance of precipitation.
This is not what I signed up for when I moved to Idaho!!! At least I won't be roasting in California. I just wish that nice weather could stay for just one day longer. Oh well.
So the other day I was having fun wrestling with Milton and decided to take a few pictures. He decided to yawn in one of them. I swear he's not scary. He's actually quite the weenie. When Chloe hears something outside she barks her head off. I don't think she has any idea that if there were something really out there it would rip her to shreds. Milton on the other hand, whines and runs into my lap when he hears something "scary". That's why road trips with him suck. He sits on my lap the entire time because he thinks the acceleration of the car is a scary scary man that is growling at him. What a pansy ;)

Oh
Oh, and I paid $3.98 in gas today. I don't even want to know what it is in California right now. Ick.
Busy
So, like it says...I've been busy lately.
On Thursday I sang at a NATS recital. Boss (Sister Bossard) asked me to sing on Wednesday. I don't typically give up a chance to sing so I took it. I was just kind of lame because I sang the same thing I sang at my last NATS recital last year. Oh well. I thought ahead so that Mom and everyone could see and had J record it. So here it is.
Also, I've been making jewelry like mad. I actually sold a necklace and some earrings the other day! I shipped them off today. I'm so excited. I think I made something like $22 off the deal after shipping and materials and stuff. I'm really enjoying it all.
What I'm not enjoying are midterms. YUCK! I have a couple coming up this week and a project. I really should be studying instead of making jewelry but I can't help myself!
Oh! Also! We sold our apartment contract today! YAY! So hopefully it all works out and we only will have paid double rent one month instead of 3. It still stinks but we'll live.

Etsy!
Summer is starting to look up because I have a new hobby! I've started beading again, but this time....the stuff is decent!
I've decided that its worth spending the money on cause I'm going to try and sell some of it online. The other stuff will be given as birthday and Christmas presents.
But go look at my shop if you want!

I'm seriously having so much fun with it. If only I had this much motivation when it came to homework!

No me gusta espanol esta noche
I am so sick of Spanish homework. I have these lab manual and workbook things due just about every week. Instead of doing a couple pages a night I save it all for the night before! Someone smack me! I have a test and oral tomorrow too. Those shouldn't go too badly though.
I'm getting pretty sick of Rexburg weather. Its been raining all day and isn't supposed to get any better tomorrow. The best weather day we've had recently has only been in the low 70s. Get me out of here!
Chloe goes in to get spayed tomorrow. Oh and she's getting a tooth pulled too. Poor baby. Tomorrow will probably be a good excuse to take pictures of her though. She'll be so mellow she'll let me.
And since I haven't posted any pictures for awhile I suppose I can find one so that you all remember what we look like.
This is usually how Milton looks. He always has a sock. We take them from him but he always seems to find another. He probably takes them off my feet in the night and hides them for later use. He's pretty sneaky.
Forget us. The dogs are much cuter. Here's Chloe looking rather calm. I think she was getting sick of being man-handled. How would you like it if someone was sticking their head (which could be 2 times bigger than your body!) in your face all the time?
